01. What is Dibrary?

Dibrary is a new name for the digital library of the National Library of Korea, which harmonizes nature, humanity, and information.

Dibrary is the world’s first hybrid library combining digital and analogue ideas. Dibrary consists of “Dibrary Portal,” a virtual space, and a physical service space called “Dibrary Information Commons”.

02. Dibrary Portal

Dibrary Portal provides an integrated search of quality domestic and international digital contents.
The Dibrary Portal enables everyone to access a broad array of digital knowledge and information online, from anywhere and at any time.

Dibrary Portal provides approximately 0.1 billion digital contents through broad cooperation and data integration with the libraries and diverse organizations holding valuable digital contents, including public and private organizations in Korea and overseas.

Dibrary Portal includes the main portal and specialized portals (local portals, multicultural portals, policy information portal, and portals for the disabled).

03. Information Commons

Information Commons refers not only to a physical space but also to the virtual space in which cutting-edge facilities, the service strategies, and the system are provided to accurately identify traditional and newly-emerging users' needs and provide user-oriented services, with the aim of realizing the goal of “Information services that are open to everyone”.

The Way of Knowledge is a connection bridge that connects the main building and the digital library, which also holds motion-sensitive interactive contents which works by movements recognition of users.

An entertainment space where users can enjoy beverages while using U-Touch Tables
- B2F Productivity Computer Cluster

The Productivity Computer Cluster enables professional jobs with large monitors and multiple monitors, as well as the searching and viewing of digital contents and documentation works.
- B2F Laptop Zone

Laptop Zone is equipped with wired and wireless network connectivity, allowing individual users to view contents with their own laptops, or to read the books loaned from NLK.

Users can watch multimedia contents of the Digital Library on a large screen in groups.

Reservation verification services are provided at the Welcome Board, and users can hold seminars and meetings in groups using the electronic boards, LCD, monitors, and projectors.

Media Center is a complex space in which users can edit and display video/audio/UCC contents, and can also view the digital/analogue multimedia contents of the library.

Video and Audio Studios enable the creation of multimedia contents at the professional level, while the UCC studio enables general users to easily create UCC (User Created Contents).

Users can obtain information on the facilities and services of Dibrary, and review the notices at a Multi-Cube mounted at the wall.

The Global Lounge is equipped with a PC environment in English, Chinese, Japanese, French, and Vietnamese, enabling all users to use multi-language services.
